Making a great explainer video all comes down to having a great script. If you’ve never written one, it can be a challenge to know just where to start. Lucky for you, we’ve shared a video script outline that will get you headed in the right direction. Just replace contents in the [BRACKETS] with your company name and tagline. Then customize as needed, and woohoo! An awesome starting point.
Here’s the outline:
Character has problems →
Looks for a solution →
Finds your business or service →
Explanation of benefits/how it works →
Request viewer action (Call to action)
Sample video script using the outline:
“We love running our [YOUR PRODUCT] business, but what we don’t love is spending time looking for the best [YOUR PRODUCT]. Most others have something that helps, but it has problems..
We’ve looked online for a solution, but nothing was perfect.
One day we came across [COMPANY NAME].
[COMPANY NAME] offers this, and it that does x, y and z. So now we get a ton of benefits like x, y, and z. [COMPANY NAME] makes life better. [COMPANY NAME]
[COMPANY NAME]. [COMPANY TAGLINE] . Sign up/buy one today!”
This outline is a solid starting point, but be sure to get creative to make it your own. Include things that make your business unique, and look for comparisons you can make between your business and something everyone can relate to (i.e. your product is the “Ferrari” of your industry).
Consider using some humor to make it more fun, along with a character-based approach which can keep viewers engaged while building trust in your brand. Watching a character who has the same pains they have, for example, can help viewers feel that you’re like them and understand their needs.
Our last tip is to try to end on a high note, perhaps leaving viewers wondering why it took so long for them to find you. If you have questions, contact us for a free consultation and check out the Sharp Eye Animation blog for more on video marketing.
